St Patrick’s Day

☘️ Celebrated on March 17

Saint Patrick’s Day celebrates St. Patrick, patron saint of Ireland. The story of St Patrick is that, at 16, he was taken against his will from Roman Britain in the 4th century and brought to Ireland. ☘️

He managed to escape captivity from Ireland some years later but he chose to actually return in order to convert the Irish people to Christianity. St Patrick became known for building churches, monasteries, and Christian schools. Many folk tales and myths started going around about him and his dedicated work. One of them was that he chased the snakes out of Ireland and even used the shamrock as a symbol to explain the ‘Trinity’. ☘️

For his many contributions to the spread of Christianity in Ireland, the country started to celebrate his day with religious services and feasts. ☘️

Known For: Street Parades, festivals, eating a feast and, the wearing of green attire or shamrocks.
